    History

Tero International, Inc. is a corporate training firm, founded in 1993 by Rowena Crosbie with headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa.

Tero started, as many small businesses do, in a spare bedroom. Since its beginnings in Ro's home in Earlham, Iowa, the growth has been dramatic and we are pleased to number individuals of Tero training programs from many countries among our graduates. In addition to workshops hosted in Iowa and around the United States, Tero serves clients at locations around the world including Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Europe, Singapore, India and Malaysia.

As the growth continues, 2005 marks another expansion and a move for Tero to a larger office and learning center in Des Moines, Iowa. This new center offers an excellent learning environment, incorporating the latest research on learning methodology and providing clients with greater options for delivery of Tero training programs.

Tero's growth has come primarily from word-of-mouth testimonials and referrals. For that, the members of the Tero team would gratefully like to acknowledge all the many individuals who make up its unofficial and renegade sales force; those graduates and clients who have invited Tero to share in their professional development and who share their success stories with others.

Tero's first training program continues to be one of its most popular IMPACT®: How To Speak Your Way To Success. As the organization has grown and recruited team members with talent in a variety of areas, Tero's portfolio of programs and services has also expanded. Leadership training and programs incorporating the insights of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator were introduced in 1998. Tero's youth training programs, Outstanding in Life, were also introduced in 1998. 2002 saw the introduction of Outclass Your Competition: Business Etiquette and Dining Tutorial. Several years of intensive research on inter-cultural competence resulted in the release of Tero's World Class: How To Succeed In The International Arena training class in 2005. Two new programs, Beyond Compromise: A Better Way To Negotiate and MORE IMPACT, the follow-up to the popular IMPACT®: How To Speak Your Way To Success, were also launched in 2005. In 2006, Image and Influence: Polishing Your Professional Look joined the impressive list of offerings when Tero welcomed a professional image consultant to the elite Tero training team.

Tero has achieved a reputation for combining the most advanced learning techniques into some of the most practical training programs to help people develop the edge that separates the leaders from the rest; their skills and knowledge.

The members of the Tero team are especially proud of Tero's Inside-Out Makeover Program. This program was introduced to the community in 2004 as a vehicle to help disadvantaged women rebuild their lives. This unusual makeover is based on the premise that all lasting and meaningful change first begins on the inside. For this reason, the program is designed to build self-confidence, personal skills and interpersonal skills, from the inside-out, in those who participate. The program is not for the faint of heart as graduation is not automatic or guaranteed. It encompasses a long six months of training, involving several intensive training sessions, one-on-one professional coaching and self-study. Individuals are invited to self-nominate for the program by writing a brief essay on their goals for the program, if accepted. Two formal interviews also make-up the selection process. The scholarship provided by Tero carries a value of more than $1,500 per person and involves more than 30 hours of training and professional coaching.
