What separates products like Coca Cola and Starbucks from their competition? The common denominator is they have a strong and consistent brand. These companies reflect on and determine what it takes to cross regions and locations. These organizations conduct surveys and internal audits to figure out how to advertise and tweak their brand to appeal in different markets. A one size fits all mentality is not considered and, instead, awareness of the brand and the locale combine to create success.
What do people think of when they think of you? Whatever it is, it is your personal "brand", and is a critical component of your potential success. Your brand needs to be recognized positively with every person you interact with and in every situation you face.
Yet the importance of brand goes beyond the individual. What is your "professional" brand as it relates to the way you want and need to represent your organization? Your brand must fit and create the desired perceptions necessary to the role you play in an organization in order to contribute to your organization's overall success.
