    Des Moines Business Record

    Name: Deb Rinner

Position/organization: Executive training specialist, Tero International Inc.

    Age: 49

    Hometown: Bettendorf,Iowa

Education: Master's degree in education, Drake University; Certified Corporate Etiquette and International Protocol. Protocol School of Washington, DC.

A few words about my company: Tero International has a standard of excellence in all aspects of its business as well as an outstanding reputation for top-notch training and development programs. As a member of the Tero team, I am part of a creative and visionary think tank focusing on interpersonal-skills development.

Recent accomplishments: This year I was accepted into membership of the International Association Of Protocol Consultants. As a member of this group, I have increased access to research in the international arena, to the foremost authors in my field, as well to other protocol consultants who walk in high-visibility organizations.

My first Job: At 16, I worked part-time for Petersen-Harned Von Maur, the original downtown department store in Davenport.

What I enjoy about my industry: One of the reasons this training is so enjoyable is that much as a good host tries to gather a diverse group at a party,we get a great mix of people attending.

Biggest career break: I think the most significant "break" on my career path was when Joan Hital at Drake University referred me to Tero.

The toughest part of my job: No one wants to dine with me - they think I will judge their table manners. Even when I speak to a group, I am usually ushered in after the dessert course.

Someone I admire: I truly admire Rowena Crosbie, president of Tero International. She is one of the most positive people I have ever met, and her management style is open, honest and always committed to providing the very best for her employees and clients.

About my family: I have three grown children, Steve, 21 Anne, 25, and Katie, 23.

How my business will change in the next decade: I visualize my industry growing by leaps and bounds. As a trainer, I see a trend with individuals and companies realizing they need information on etiquette and protocol to enhance their ability to relate effectively to others, which translates into their being more marketable and successful.

Favorite vacation spots: West coast of Ireland, Sanibel Island, Fla, and New York City.
