Welcome to the Tero May eZine
Have you ever been in a conversation where you thought you were right and the other person was wrong? Or that the problem wasn't your fault, it was theirs? Or that the person you were communicating with was just plain insensitive?
There are so many roadblocks that prevent us from truly listening to others. And most of the time we prefer to be stopped by our chosen roadblock rather than letting the other person get their ideas through to us. From being sensitive to being managed (so not fully listening to directions) to being addicted to helping people (listening to offer what we think is the solution) we travel down the road of communication when it comes to listening rather ineffectively. We miss the wealth of knowledge, understanding, and depth of relationship we would be rewarded with by being a true listener.
This month we devote the eZine to listening. The Q and A tackles the art of being aware of yourself when listening, whether in a general conversation or when communicating through a language difference. The development activity provides proven steps to help you become a better listener. The feature article is by Tero Research Consultant, Harwant Khush. Harwant explores verbal criticism and how to handle it. The resources give reasons why we fail to listen, tips on how to be listened to and more. The inspiration reminds us listening is not about understanding the words, but rather understanding the person we are listening to. We welcome you now to "listen up" to this month's eZine.
