Michele Whitty
Michele Whitty is a Training Consultant for Tero International. Michele joined the Tero Team in 2011.
With careers as a Recreation Therapist and a Fundraiser, she believes effective communication and presentation skills were key to her progress and success in her professional life.
Her experience and leadership in presentation skills includes eight years facilitating programs for residents and patients in hospitals and elderly residential care facilities in St Louis, Missouri and Des Moines, Iowa. Collaborating with medical team members, she created and executed one-on-one and group programs in effectively supporting patient goals. Program curriculum included Stress Management, Assertiveness Training, Relaxation Techniques, Health and Nutrition.
She enjoyed a twelve-year career as a professional fundraiser for churches and schools in Washington D.C. and Des Moines, Iowa. As Chief Fundraising Officer for the largest private high school in the State of Iowa, she led a team of seven co-workers in initiating a $900,000 Annual Fund. Her oversight and leadership resulted in a successful $17 million capital campaign. She facilitated presentations for alumni, faculty, community leaders and a 45-member Board of Trustees.
Michele is engaged in community initiatives including United Way of Central Iowa's Women's Leadership Connection, Sisters of Charity, Dubuque, Iowa-Leadership Board, and Ferscipe Society. She has served as Chair of Iowa State University's Women and Philanthropy Committee and been a board member for the West Des Moines Leadership Academy. She is a graduate of Iowa State University.
