I've heard that color is an important consideration when choosing what to wear for work, writes Sam.

Researchers have long recognized the power of color and the fact that we all have a physiological response to it. Darker shades or high contrast combinations are seen as more authoritative and credible. Wear these when you want to command respect and need to appear powerful.

Lighter shades or low contrast combinations are seen as more approachable and friendly. They are more effective when you need to quickly build rapport, deliver bad news, or deal with an emotionally charged group.

Use color strategically to help visually communicate your intended message.
